Windows 10 has been the talk of the town for months. There are daily news and updates about the system.

The technical preview of Windows 10 is already popular with over 5 million Insiders. Millions of other users are currently using stable versions of Windows 10.

But if you are still unsure whether you should switch to Windows 10, we reveal the key features and reasons to switch to this innovative operating system.

Why should I upgrade to Windows 10?

1. Differences in the Start menu

The Start menu has been one of the most recognizable features of Windows operating systems for decades, and Microsoft’s decision to remove it in Windows 8 was certainly a big change.

But Windows users were certainly not prepared for this change. They were not happy with the new Metro environment, and many users complained about the lack of a Start menu.

Microsoft was aware of the situation and the company decided to respond to the wishes of millions of users and bring back the Start menu in the next version of Windows.

But what about all those applications designed for the Metro environment? The company couldn’t just throw them away.

So Microsoft made a compromise: It has combined the traditional Start menu with Metro apps to give a whole new look to the Windows 10 Start menu.

The feedback has been positive, and Microsoft certainly made the right choice in bringing the Start menu back to the Windows platforms, as it satisfies both users who were against the Start screen and those who like Metro apps.

2. Cortana

Aside from the Start menu, Cortana is also one of the most notable additions to Windows 10.

Microsoft introduced Cortana to its Windows Phone platform with the 8.1 update, becoming the last major manufacturer to offer a virtual assistant for its mobile platform.

But Microsoft was the first to bring the personal assistant to PC platforms, which is certainly a notable innovation.

Cortana allows you to search not only the web, but also local files and folders on your computer.

It is also a highly customizable and personalized virtual assistant, as it recognizes what you like and suggests content based on your interests.

Cortana will also be integrated into Microsoft’s new browser, Project Spartan or Edge, so you can use her help while browsing the web right on the page.

Cortana is a very useful assistant. So if you decide to remove it, we can help you get it back. Read our detailed guide on how to re-enable Cortana if you’ve disabled it.

3. Multiple Offices and Task View

Cortana isn’t the only thing Microsoft has borrowed from mobile devices, as Windows 10 has a brand new task manager and the ability to create multiple desktops.

The Virtual Desktops feature allows users to create multiple desktops and pretend to work on multiple screens.

This function can be extremely useful if you want to work with several programs at the same time.

Then there’s the task viewer, which allows us to easily manage our tasks, just like on mobile devices.

The Task View button is located in the taskbar, next to the search bar, but you can also access it by pressing alt + tab.

With this task manager, you can quickly switch between tasks, manage them and close them, and it will definitely improve the productivity of Windows 10 users.

4. Xbox features and games

Microsoft is preparing a slew of new features in Windows 10 for gamers.

For the most part, Windows 10 games will revolve around the new Xbox app, but that app offers a lot of features.

You can communicate with your friends, track your activities, view your rankings and much more.

You can also stream Xbox One games to your PC, which means you can play and watch all your Xbox One games on your PC.

The Xbox application even goes so far as to allow you to play Xbox games on the PC with friends who are playing the same game on the console.

This is a new addition to Microsoft’s cross-platform philosophy for Windows 10.

The release of the new version of DirectX 12 for Windows 10 is also expected. The new DirectX will undoubtedly improve the graphics of games and provide a new experience for PC gamers whose graphics cards can support it.

5. Window applications

In addition to the Start screen, Microsoft has introduced Metro apps in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

There are many useful Metro apps in the store, but users don’t like that these apps take up the entire screen.

Many have dismissed this feature, as well as the start menu. Fortunately, Microsoft has also solved this problem.

Of course, the company could not afford to just remove all these applications from the store, since it had invested a lot of effort and money in them.

So Microsoft decided to redesign it a bit: They are now available in windowed mode, just like the other regular programs.

This is much better for PC users, as the previous application design was not desktop-friendly and some users found it difficult to use.

But in Windows 10, the app window size is easy to adjust, so you can customize it to your liking.

6. Standard web browser

Microsoft seems to have made a habit of ending an era with its new operating system.

Like Windows 8’s Start menu (thankfully, the company has decided to revive it), Microsoft has consigned Internet Explorer to oblivion after nearly 20 years.

In Windows 10, Internet Explorer will be replaced by Microsoft’s new browser, Project Spartan/Edge.

This move by Microsoft might be a good one, because although Internet Explorer is the most popular browser in the world, it is not known for its great features.

Internet Explorer has been derided for being slower than the competition for years, and the introduction of a new browser could draw users’ attention in the right direction.

We can’t say much about Microsoft Edge’s performance yet, as the system itself is still in the testing phase, but it certainly offers some refreshing new features.

It works with EdgeHTML, a new layout engine based on Internet Explorer’s Trident.

It also integrates other Microsoft products, such as the personal assistant Cortana, which will improve your search experience, and Microsoft OneDrive.

It also has a new reading view that adds a new dimension to the reading experience.

7. Supplement

Microsoft has high hopes for Windows 10, as it is the most innovative operating system in the company’s history.

It combines elements of all previous Windows with new additions. So, whether you liked Windows 8 or not, you’ll love Windows 10 because it offers a lot.

Microsoft also announced that Windows 10 will be the latest version of Windows. So you absolutely must be part of such an important and historic project.

UPDATE:Since this post was written, the number of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users has steadily declined. Many users have chosen to upgrade to Windows 10 to take advantage of the latest features and improvements in the operating system.
